Curiosities....
- On the 40th anniversary of the invention of email, listening to NPR about a new book, "The Tyranny of Email" Ha...."No one was addicted to the telegram." True. "Computers store things that we used to store in our mind...." True that, too.
- As Halloween approaches, I've been vaguely thinking about couple's costumes but it's hard to think up not-too-cutesy good ones. The hot dog and bun idea has been vetoed too many times to count. A few years ago Rafe and I went as Shaggy and Velma and that went over quite well considering we already looked like them non-costumed.
This year (thanks Renu for the inspirational photo!) I'm thinking Pippi and Captain Longstocking. EH??? Perfect. A little creepy, but eh. Is that Dom DeLuise, btw?
The other week, a curious letter from our building's management company arrived in our mailbox, addressed to all tenants. An excerpt:
It has been brought to our attention....that a tenant was harassed by another tenant in the building after she asked this gentleman to lower his music while he was washing his vehicle in front of the building. The tenant became infuriated by the request to lower his music and retaliated by throwing a condom and egg at the door of the female tenant. Please feel free to weight in here on how or why one throws a condom and egg (was the condom in the egg? or were the two thrown separately? hard-boiled egg or raw? furthermore, how was the female tenant so sure it was egg???)
The tenant who behaved in such a manner should be ashamed of himself and will hopefully learn how to act like a good neighbor.
We've been looking to move anyhow, but with good neighbors like this, maybe we should stay put!
